A Hard Worker
Economic Opportunity, Financial Opportunity Center
When twenty-two-year-old Kai’sha Taylor first came to the FOC in October of 2016, she was unemployed, pregnant, and did not know how she could plan for her future as her due date was rapidly approaching. She knew that she wanted to pursue a career in the medical industry but felt trapped by her uncertainty and inexperience. Over the winter and spring of 2017, she began actively working with the FOC to take steps towards her goals. Being a new single mother, she faced and overcame many barriers as she worked with the FOC. These included applying for financial aid to attend a local community college, pursuing child support payments she was owed, and leaving an abusive relationship. She worked hard to develop her resume, applied for jobs, and began to consider her financial future. With the help of the FOC, she has secured a full time job and been accepted into a phlebotomy program to kick off her career in the medical industry.
