Real People, Real Progress: HumanKind Clients Turn Goals Into Achievements
Ronnie, an apprentice (Residential Recovery Advisor) from Atlantic Outreach Group (AOG), one of our valued partner organizations, began his journey with the HumanKind Financial Opportunity Center (FOC) to strengthen his digital, financial, and employment skills.
During his one-on-one coaching session, Ronnie shared his personal and professional goals. He expressed a desire to improve his digital knowledge to become a successful Certified Peer Recovery Specialist, knowing that the position would require extensive digital documentation. He also set goals to save $5,000 and increase his credit score to build a stronger financial foundation.
After his FOC session, Ronnie received a personalized action plan with clear steps to help him get started. Shortly after, he shared this message with his coach:
“Thank you, Nicole. I got so much out of this session this morning. You opened my mind to so many things. I plan on getting the most out of what is offered in this apprenticeship program and will work very hard on becoming the best version of myself, no procrastination. You put fire under me. Thank you so much.”
Ronnie’s journey was not without challenges. He did not pass some assessments along the way but refused to give up. Instead, he demonstrated determination by scheduling additional one-on-one sessions with his coach to review and retake the assessments. His persistence paid off. Through continued dedication, Ronnie successfully earned six Northstar Digital Literacy certificates and met his $5,000 savings goal. He is now in the process of transitioning from his apprenticeship role into a full-time position at AOG while continuing to work toward completing his Peer Recovery Specialist certification.
Ronnie's story is a powerful example of resilience, growth, and the transformative impact of digital, financial, and career coaching through the HumanKind FOC program.
