Join us for the HumanKind Lynchburg Turkey Trot 5K presented by Scott Insurance—a beloved Thanksgiving tradition 38 years strong! Whether you're trotting in person on Thanksgiving morning in Lynchburg or joining virtually from anywhere, everyone can participate individually or with their favorite flock. Run, walk, or trot your way to the finish line while making a difference in your community all year long.
Lace up for the largest 5K in the area – where every step is a part of something big! The Lynchburg Turkey Trot is a community fun run/walk with all proceeds of this fundraising race supporting the programs and services of HumanKind.
MORE THAN A RACE
The event's roots stretch back to 1988 when Don Lucy, who grew up at Presbyterian Homes, now known as HumanKind, created the race as a way to give back and help raise funds and awareness for individuals, children, and families across Virginia.
What started as a simple act of generosity has grown into one of Lynchburg's most anticipated holiday traditions, attracting thousands of participants and supporters each year.
More than a race, it's a celebration of community, generosity, and the power of coming together to support neighbors in need. Gather your flock, put on your favorite costume, and be part of something truly meaningful. Will you join us in wrapping around these families who are working toward stability and a brighter future?

The Lynchburg Turkey Trot is a Rain or shine event!
Date: Thursday, November 26, 2026
Start Time: 8:00 am EST
Location: The Start/Finish line of the Lynchburg Turkey Trot are located in front of EC Glass High School on Langhorne Road. EC Glass High School is located at 2111 Memorial Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24501
Virtual Race
Participants can run or walk from anywhere on a date of their choosing Nov. 21 – 29. Don’t forget to use RaceJoy — our app on race day! Download the RaceJoy App to your phone for free HERE.

No matter which option you choose, every registration comes with everything you need to compete – or add on some merchandise to make your run more festive.
HOW TO JOIN IN ON THE FUN:
Register for the Lynchburg Turkey Trot and recruit family/friends/co-workers to participate alongside you! Friends, family, neighbors, or group – however you gather – register 4 or more members to receive discounted pricing (applied at check out).
Choose to participate in-person on Thanksgiving morning November 26 OR plan to run or walk without the crowds on a date of your choosing November 21 – November 29.
Participating in-person on Thanksgiving morning? Join us at the start line on Langhorne Road. Race begins at 8am sharp. Official race times will be timed by the race chip on your bib and posted online.
Participating virtually? Select a day from November 21 – November 29 to conquer your 5K. Use our race app or watch to keep track of your distance and finish time. After completing the 5K, submit your results to the leader board and print off your finisher certificate.
