Join us for HumanKind Lynchburg Turkey Trot 5K presented by Scott Insurance—a beloved Thanksgiving tradition 38 years strong! Whether you're trotting in-person on Thanksgiving morning in Lynchburg or joining virtually from anywhere, mark your calendar: Registration opens August 10, 2026!

Lace up for the largest 5K in the area – where every step is a part of something big! The Lynchburg Turkey Trot is a community fun run/walk with all proceeds of this fundraising race supporting the programs and services of HumanKind.

MORE THAN A RACE

‍The race was originally started in 1988 by Don Lucy who grew up at the Presbyterian Homes (now known as HumanKind) as a way to give back and help raise funds and awareness for individuals, children, and families across Virginia. This race exists because when we come together, we create something powerful—a celebration of community, generosity, and the unwavering support for neighbors in need. Bring your flock, come dressed in costume, and be part of something meaningful! Will you join us in wrapping around these families who are striving to find stability? ‍

The Lynchburg Turkey Trot is a Rain or shine event!

Date: Thursday, November 26, 2026

Start Time: 8:00 am EST

Location: ‍ ‍The Start/Finish line of the Lynchburg Turkey Trot are located in front of EC Glass High School on Langhorne Road. EC Glass High School is located at 2111 Memorial Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24501

Virtual Race

Participants can run or walk from anywhere on a date of their choosing November 21 – 29.
