HumanKind has been serving children and families in Lynchburg since our founding as Presbyterian Orphans Home in 1903.

More than 10,000 children have lived, worked, worshiped, played and attended school here on HumanKind Way (formerly Linden Avenue). As orphanages evolved over the last few decades, we sought to join our efforts with The Family Alliance creating a continuum of services ranging from prevention, education and healthy lifestyles for children and families to long-term residential care for adults. Today, we serve more than 6,000 people every year.

Each year in June, the Presbyterian Homes campus of HumanKind welcomes home our alumni with a fun-filled celebration. We are delighted to have families from all over the country reunited.

Homecoming 2023

Please stay tuned for more information about the schedule for this year — but we can’t wait to see everyone!
