Back on Track
Monica’s family has been able to come together because of FPM
For Monica and her family, Family Partnership Meetings have given them a nuetral space to openly discuss their issues and concerns. Monica’s family was first introduced to FPM in 2016 and according to Monica it has helped piece her family back together.
Nadine Dunton, HumanKind’s Lead Prevention Specialist, has administered Monica’s FPM since 2016. When Monica was incarcerated, Dunton also conducted life skills classes in the jail to inspire the women to make better life choices.
“She’s been a big help throughout all of this, getting us together and back on our feet,” Monica said. “It’s been longer but it’s been a good one and a productive one and we’re back on track now.”
According to Monica, the FPM create a safe atmosphere where the family can take time to focus on each individual without negative energy. Monica mentioned that this program offers a more personal approach compared to social services since they aren’t able to get to know most of their clients.
“They keep everyone’s best interest in mind,” Monica said. “Not just one side. They look at the whole picture and try to bring everybody together.”
