About Me
Lupita has around 15 years of combined experience in the mental health field, yet she enjoys learning more and staying current with new research and evidence-based practices. She is most interested in working with trauma with humans of all ages. She holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. In the past she has worked as: a “youth counselor” in a residential facility for adolescents; an intensive in-home counselor; and as a therapeutic day treatment clinician. She has been a Resident in Counseling at Blackwater for the past two years as she is completing her hours towards counseling licensure in Virginia. Lupita believes the most important part of counseling is the relationship that is created between client and counselor. She approaches all of her cases with empathy and respect.
Lupita is a bilingual, Latina woman from New York who has settled to raise her family in a city quite different from the one she grew up in. Her background, compassion, and professional preparation make her a diverse and understanding individual for the clients she is lucky enough to work with.
