What is it?

Over the Edge is an international company that sends participants down the side of a building as a fundraiser for nonprofits. HumanKind is the first nonprofit in Lynchburg to offer such an event. This September, participants can go Over the Edge for HumanKind by rappelling down the Bank of the James building in downtown Lynchburg.

Who can do it?

Anyone can be an “Edger” if you are lucky enough to be one of the first 76 or so to sign up. Hundreds more will be involved by donating to support their brave friends and family members. (Edgers under 18 will need a parent’s signature. Edgers must meet a minimum weight requirement of 100 pounds and the maximum weight limit is 300 pounds). Edgers commit to raising at least $1,000 through their personal networks for the privilege of going Over the Edge for HumanKind. We help by providing a website that generates interest and excitement for the event and our mission of strengthening individuals and families through care, counseling and education.

No experience is required–you’ll receive all the training you need the day of the event. Safety is Over the Edge’s highest priority. The event location will be set up as an industrial worksite compliant with all federal and state OSHA laws and Fall Protection Standards. Over the Edge has an impeccable safety record with more than 500 successful events and more than 25,000 successful Edgers.

 When is it?

Over the Edge for HumanKind is September 14 and 15,  2017.

Why Over the Edge?

Over the Edge has raised more than $33 million for nonprofits around the world. The proceeds raised from HumanKind’s event support our programs and services, which reached nearly 7,000 people last year. We are building on more than 100 years of faithful service to provide hope and help equip people to build better lives for themselves and their families. We offer a broad range of services that foster the social, mental and financial well-being of families empowering people of all walks of life to become healthy, contributing members of their community. This event will help us raise awareness by sharing the impact of our services and testimonials of families.
