Our Urgent Need: Expanding Early Head Start
Every day in our community, families face impossible choices because of a lack of affordable, quality childcare. Nearly 1,800 children under age 5 live in a childcare desert, and more than 25% grow up in poverty.
The HumanKind Early Head Start program gives vulnerable infants and toddlers the strong start they deserve — but demand far exceeds capacity. With 35 children on our waitlist, we urgently need to expand. We’ve secured 86% of the $1.7 million needed to nearly double our Lynchburg center’s capacity, but we need your help to raise the final $183,000.
