For more than 30 years, HumanKind has been the host for several local high schools, middle schools and collegiate teams. Our 160+ acre campus has mild hills throughout which creates a great area to host these events.

Where is HumanKind's Cross Country Course?

HumanKind’s Cross Country course is located on our historic Presbyterian Homes campus: 150 Linden Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24503. Please use our main entrance on VES Road to access a cross-country meet.

Directions:

From Danville: Take US 29 North to US 501 North (Lynchburg Expressway – 7.3 miles) to BUS 501 South (Boonsboro Rd. – 2.6 miles). Turn left onto VES Road (.7 miles) and left at HumanKind main entrance sign.

From Roanoke: Take US 460 East to US 29 North (1.9 miles) to US 501 North (Lynchburg Expressway – 7.3 miles) to BUS 501 South (Boonsboro Rd. – 2.6 miles). Turn left onto VES Road (.7 miles) and left at HumanKind main entrance sign.

From Bedford: Take US 221 East to US 501 North (Lynchburg Expressway – 3.4 miles) to BUS 501 South (Boonsboro Rd. – 2.6 miles). Turn left onto VES Road (.7 miles) and left at HumanKind main entrance sign.

From Lexington: Take US 60 East to US 501 South. Turn Left on BUS 501 South (Boonsboro Rd. – 2.6 miles). Turn left onto VES Road (.7 miles) and left at HumanKind main entrance sign.

From Charlottesville: Take US 29 South to BUS 29 South across James River to second light and right on Main Street, which becomes Rivermont Ave. Continue on Rivermont Ave. (3.3 miles) and right onto VES Road (.7 miles) and left at HumanKind main entrance sign.

From Appomattox: Take US 460 West to US 501 North (Chandlers Mt. Rd & Buena Vista Exit to Lynchburg Expressway – 8.7 miles) to BUS 501 South (Boonsboro Rd. – 2.6 miles). Turn left onto VES Road (.7 miles) and left at HumanKind main entrance sign.

When you arrive on campus, come up the hill until you see the historic red barns on the right. Parking is available at the barn area (Davis Instruction Gardens) or further past the barns on the left next to the Ranch House (home of our Foster Care program). A parking volunteer will assist you when you arrive during the time of a cross-country meet.

Where should we park for the meet?

Please only park in Cross-Country designated areas in the grass area beside the Ranch House at the intersection of Linden Avenue and entrance from VES Road or near the Community Gardens at the barn area.

Please do not park in the gravel lot behind the Main Campus – this is HumanKind’s vehicle fleet lot and vehicles are returned at the end of the day and after hours on a frequent basis.

Please do not park in parking areas around the Main Horseshoe especially in front of Little Wings preschool as parents are picking kids up through 6:30pm.

We are home to 166 acres of pristine GreenSpace. We encompass 4 unique habitats on our land. We have 16 miles of walking and running trails, purple marlin habitat, fishing pond, disc-golf course, Davis Instructional Community Garden, historic barns, outdoor pavilion, outdoor pool, gymnasium, meeting space, Blue Ridge Autism & Achievement Center (BRAAC) school for children with autism, Katie’s Place (day support for adults with autism), and more than 80 HumanKind staff members serving the region with 20+ programs and services including foster care, mental health services, home-visiting support, preschool education, maternal support groups, lactation, care for adults with development disabilities and many more!
