Statement on COVID-19

HumanKind’s Little Wings Early Learning Center wants to assure you of the precautions we are taking in response to COVID-19 to keep our children, families, and staff safe and healthy. The Virginia Department of Health is recommending that child care centers continue to follow stringent licensing requirements including washing hands, sanitizing, and requiring students and staff to stay home when sick. Children with fevers will be sent home and will not be permitted to return until they are fever free, without fever-reducing medications, for 24 hours. It is critical that you inform us immediately if you suspect anyone in your family has been exposed to the COVID-19 virus. We are closely monitoring local health officials’ recommendations and will follow any they provide regarding operating plans for child care centers. We will be providing periodic updates as we monitor the situation and receive additional guidance. Parents always have the right to keep children at home at their discretion. At this time, Little Wings is open as normal, and we ask that you work with us to keep everyone healthy. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns related to your child. Further details can be found at http://www.vdh.virginia.gov/surveillance-and-investigation/novel-coronavirus.

Little Wings Early Learning Center is a high-quality, early education center for children ages 2.5-5 years. Using the HighScope curriculum, Little Wings encourages active learning with an emphasis on positive adult-child interactions and follows the interests of the children.

Little Wings is an inclusive program, where children of diverse needs, abilities, cultures, and economic backgrounds are learning alongside each other. All children, regardless of ability, will be given opportunities to participate fully in our learning program and every effort will be made to accommodate children with special needs.

Small classroom sizes with a 1:7 teacher/student ratio allow us to provide exceptional opportunities for children to learn and grow. We also offer a handicap-accessible playground which encourages hands-on play through climbing, digging in the sandbox, enjoying a trike path, and painting and music.

Little minds are ripe for the exploration, discovery, and creativity that comes to life on our campus.
