The Need is Urgent

Picture the mom trying to wrangle her toddler while getting ready for her part-time job. She has a friend watching her son two days a week, but she often has to call out sick because her friend doesn’t show up.

Consider the family whose baby is not hitting developmental milestones, and they don’t know where to turn.

Imagine the grandmother unexpectedly raising a child, overwhelmed with responsibility and financial strain. She is in desperate need to find a program that cares.

Central Virginia is considered a childcare desert, where many families cannot find quality, affordable care. Only 35% of children under age 5 in Lynchburg are enrolled in early education programs. More than 25% of area children live in poverty.

The Difference You Make

Emma's Story
Born with Down Syndrome, Emma couldn't walk or feed herself at 1.5 years old. Within months at EHS, she was walking, feeding herself, and playing with peers. EHS even brought in a mobile dental unit to meet her specialized health needs.
Londyn's Story
When Londyn was born with cerebral palsy, doctors said she may never walk. After enrolling in EHS, she overcame severe separation anxiety, started feeding herself, developed verbal skills, and began walking!
Brittany's Story
Brittany was skipping meals to feed her children. EHS connected her to food resources and full-time childcare. Today, she's working in her dream career and no longer worries about putting food on the table.
