If you ask Pamela McFadden how she feels about being a part of HumanKind’s Therapeutic Foster Care program (TFC), she’ll tell you she’s learned a lot and gained a family—but she hasn’t always felt that way.
Currently, HumanKind’s Child Care Resource Center is the only program in Central Virginia that offers the Child Development Associate (CDA) credentialing class – an intensive, 120-hour class that gives early childhood educators the knowledge they need to complete the CDA exam. A CDA credential gives educators the qualifications they need to become directors and leaders in the child care community.
It is a nationally recognized, entry-level credential sponsored by the Council for Professional Recognition located in Washington, D.C. (www.cdacouncil.org)
The CDA class is open to anyone who demonstrates the ability to meet physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs of children in their care, and can work effectively with family members and other adults to nurture children’s development.
The CDA class for 2017 will begin Tuesday, August 23, 2016, from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. Classes will be on Tuesday evenings until October, and then will switch to Thursday evenings, beginning October 20, 2016. There will be a graduation ceremony on Saturday, June 3, 2017.
We are excited to continue our partnership with Central Virginia Community College (CVCC). Classes will be held in CVCC’s Merritt Building, Room 5118. CVCC will also be offering 12 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for this course.
The cost for this course is $394, which can be paid over the course of 4 or 9 months. $90 is due at the time of registration. Please see our payment plan options. The class is limited to 30 students, so sign up today to reserve your spot.
